Request FOM Access

New to FOM:

New users, please go to FOM (Facility Online Manager) and complete the "I am a New User" form.

  • At the top of the new user form, please ensure you click the correct radio button -- internal for Pitt users, external for anyone else.  This changes the required fields to match your user type.
  • If you would like to learn more about the use and functions of FOM, please review the User Manual provided.

For University of Pittsburgh internal users, you will need a valid University account number (32-digits) in order to finalize your account.  This University account number will be provided by your Supervisor or PI, pricing will be correlated to that account.

Additionally, please note that the "2P number" can be found on the front of your Pitt ID, it starts with 2P, is very long, located usually below your name on your Pitt ID card, and is not your peoplesoft number.

When you complete the form you should receive an e-mail confirmation from the NFCF. If you do not receive an email in two days, please send an inquiry to nfcfadmn@pitt.edu.

Returning Users:

Please confirm if you are still the same type Internal / External as you were previously.  Internal designates someone affiliated with Pitt and with Pitt funding.  External designates anyone from outside entities that are not University of Pittsburgh affiliates.

  • If you have changed type you will need to set up a new FOM account.  For example if you were previously a student at Pitt and are now returning as a member of a startup or are visiting from a different school for your higher degree, you should not use your prior Pitt FOM record, you should create an "external" FOM record with the information of your new affiliated entity.  See "new to FOM" above for more detail.

If you are still the same type Internal/External as you were previously, please start by attempting login at the general login page.

If you are attempting to login to your prior account, you may have the following outcomes.  Please follow the corresponding advice:

  • If successfull login - please review your profile information, email nfcfadmn@pitt.edu changes or confirmation of PI/Supervisor and Category.  Account number will also need to be confirmed that it is neither old nor affiliated with a prior PI.
  • If forgotten password - try self service password, or if email has changed, email nfcfadmn@pitt.edu to request a temporary password.
  • If message "your account is inactive" or otherwise unable to access your prior FOM - email nfcfadmn@pitt.edu for reactivation of prior FOM record.
