To ensure the safety of personnel and to allow repairs to be completed efficiently, please follow the guidelines below before bringing glassware to the Scientific Glass Shop.
Clean Glassware Required
All glassware submitted for repair must be thoroughly cleaned, dry, and free of chemical residue before it is accepted by the shop.
Please ensure that all items are:
• Cleaned of all chemicals and reaction residues
• Thoroughly rinsed
• Completely dry
• Free of oils, grease, vacuum grease, and other contaminants
The Glass Shop reserves the right to refuse glassware that is contaminated or presents a safety hazard.
Do Not Tape or Glue Broken Glass Together
Please do not attempt to tape, glue, epoxy, or otherwise reassemble broken glassware before bringing it to the shop.
Broken pieces are easier and safer to evaluate in their original condition, and adhesives often interfere with successful repairs.
Bring All Broken Pieces
If possible, bring all broken pieces of the glassware.
Small fragments and shards should be placed in a sealed bag or other suitable container to prevent injury during transport. Very small chips or missing slivers are generally not necessary if they cannot be safely recovered.
Safe Transport
Transport damaged glassware carefully to avoid further breakage or injury. If the item has sharp edges or multiple loose pieces, package it appropriately before bringing it to the shop.
