About

The Dietrich School Machine Shop specializes in mechanical design, fabrication, and repair of research equipment and instrumentation. We can turn concepts, sketches, or CAD models into reality, offering services from vacuum pump repairs to custom mechanical designs for all Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences departments. Shop equipment includes a CNC Water Jet Machining Center with rotary, CNC 25T Press Brake, CNC 5 axis mill, multiple CNC 3 axis mills with 4th axis option, CNC lathe, CNC knee mills, bandsaws, sheet metal fabrication tools, manual lathes, manual mills, TIG welders, assorted hand tools, multiple 3D filament printers, and a 3D resin printer. Access to the Machine Shop is limited to trained and approved Dietrich School research personnel and Student Machine Shop access is granted on a machine-by-machine basis. Qualified users may receive 24/7 key card access to the Student Machine Shop, under the buddy system. Safety compliance is mandatory and violations result in loss of access.
