How to Obtain Access
The use of the facility is determined on a first come/first served basis, but our Gnotobiotic Committee, comprised of Rachel Gottschalk, Tim Hand, Reinhard Hinterleitner, Marlies Meisel and Barbara Methé, reserves the right to limit the size and scope of experiments to allow for multiple users. This assessment is based on the need for scientific space, the ability of the facility to fill the order, as well as scientific interest. Once we have scheduled your experiment we then charge for the use of the isolators on a weekly basis.
Service Requests
Please email a concise but detailed description explaining the experiment at least 30 days in advance to gnotobiotic@pitt.edu.
Become an iLab User
The University of Pittsburgh utilizes a single centralized Pitt/iLab portal to assist researchers in acquiring shared university resources. To use iLab Core Facilities Management, registration for an iLab account is required. Instructions on how to register for an account are available under the Core Connector.
iLab software defines multiple roles, one of which will apply to each person. Roles fall under three categories: Personnel Roles, Core Facilities Management Roles, and University-Wide Roles. iLab training material is available for each of these roles under Using Core Facilities.
